STUMP GRINDING

Stump removal is accomplished by stump grinding. The stump is ground down with a powerful piece of equipment (usually about a 6-8” below grade). Homeowners who have had a tree cut down on their property often find themselves with the left behind tree stump to contend with.

Stumps left behind from tree removal are unsightly, take up valuable space for gardening, lounging, etc, and can even be hazardous not to mention termite/home issues. There are a few different ways to deal with stumps, however, having them professionally stump ground is the fastest and most desirable. At A to Z Tree Services, we take care of stump removal through stump grinding quickly and easily, leaving you a nice, clean and available space in your yard.

Note that grinding stumps down is messy work. We usually rake chips into a neat pile but can also haul them away. Stump grinding and stump removal is an easy process, when you have the right tools and proper know how.

The way stump grinding works at stump removal is with the use of a stump grinder or stump cutter. It’s a powerful tool (as mentioned above) and has a rotating cutting disk that chips away the wood of the stump. The high-speed disk has teeth that grind the stump and roots into small wood chips. Stump grinding usually leaves about a 6-8” (but can go much more) deep hole and results in being able to plant a shrub, grass, or tree in the same spot.

Another way to get rid of stumps is by letting nature take its course (and it will definitely take it’s time). You simply cover up the stump with soil and that eventually leads to the stump’s decay. Once it has rotted enough, it can usually be removed with an axe and shovel. Opposite to the speed of stump grinding, this process for stump removal takes many years depending on the size of the stump.

If you don’t want to wait, and instead want to be rid of your unwanted stumps immediately, call us at A to Z Tree Service, and we’ll take care of the stump grinding and stump removal for you, allowing you to fully enjoy and make the highest and best use of your property.
